Working remotely does not have to be remote.

Goals is this year's official partner of World Employer Branding Day #WorldEBDay. The event in the world when it comes to employer branding. Our team of branding experts attended workshops for you and herewith we are happy to share some highlights. Today's insights from Sanne van Lankeren :

The corona crisis is affecting our existence. Not only in our private situations have we had to adjust in the past few months, but a lot has also changed in the workplace. And we all notice it. In such a situation, how do you make sure your employees stay engaged? We take you through some points of interest.

Keeping your employees engaged

Working from home and remote contact not only influence the way we work, but also how engaged your employees are with the organisation and its goals. To keep this engagement as high as possible and to make your employees feel that their well-being is also taken into account in these times, we have some tips for you:

1. Additional check-in moments
Extra support and genuine interest make your employees feel heard and understood, as well as giving them an easy outlet. After all, less worry also manifests itself in more engagement. A regular "how are you?" really makes a difference. Also consider asking about working conditions at home. Is a good workplace? Does someone take breaks during the day and is someone also thinking about their vitality.

2. Personal interviews
11:00 starts the meeting. You click participate in Teams or Zoom exactly on time. Everyone already has coffee or tea, the meeting can start. Nice and efficient, isn't it? Whereas in an office situation, coffee is fetched, a beamer is connected or the latecomer is waited for in the first fifteen minutes, now you can start right away.
Yet this skips a very important layer of communication between colleagues. Do keep space for this, even if only for 5 minutes.

3. Team spirit
Even though the vast majority of colleagues probably work at home, maintaining team spirit has a major impact on engagement. In challenging times like these, this provides extra support. Provide companionable challenges at work or informally.Tip: To encourage colleagues to go out and exercise even at lunchtime, introduced Alba Concepts with her team a game element using the block app. So a game element and possibly a playful benefit creates different behaviour and the team really does something with each other (even if remotely).

4. Recognition and appreciation
Now is not the time to stop appreciating your employees! Dwell on successes, milestones and achievements. A valued employee, even in these times, is often extra engaged.
